Course Description
Join Lisa for a spectacular Frenchtown weekend making a small, slab built + sculpted flower holder. Participants will learn Lisa's dart-cutting techniques as well as how she pushes animal forms out of vessels and adds sculptural details to further the illusion of 3-d animals within the forms. We’ll have our work cut out for ourselves to complete this pot in 3 days which is why I’d like participants to have some clay experience such as knowing how to roll a good slab. You don’t need to know how to cut darts as that’s one of the primary skills being taught. We’ll construct the shell of the pot on Friday and begin conceptualizing the placement and subject-matter of the decoration. Saturday we'll do all the pushing out and sculpting. As time allows, surface decoration with slip and underglaze will take place on day 3. We will make and insert the tubes (to hold the flower stems) on Sunday. All pots will be bisque fired on the premises and glazed by Lisa. Once they’ve been through the 2nd firing, Lisa will contact the group for pick-up or ship vases to those who traveled a distance (shipping fees will be applied at cost).

WORKSHOP CANCELLATION (different cancelation policy due to the nature of students traveling distances) Cancelations that take place greater than 1 month prior to a start date are fully refundable (minus a $100 admin fee). Those that come in 2-4 weeks ahead of a start-date are refunded by half. Those that come in w/in 2 weeks of a start date are non-refundable with the following exceptions: illness, accident, death in family. Registrants who fall into one of these noted categories are given a credit for a future workshop of the same or greater number of days.
