Dreaming of The Studio Sale

As Fall Classes come to an end, I'm looking ahead to The Studio Sale: December 7th and 8th. This once-a-year event is special to me. As my life has changed, so have my preparations over the many years I've been hosting it.

Running a business is an enormous undertaking and I love the people and community we've built here in Frenchtown. Also, I've spent the lion's share of the past year making 6 major pieces that will be part of my solo show (in May, 2025) at The James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA. Because of these commitments, I've had limited time to prep for the sale. And as I dream of what I want to make over these next few weeks, I'm sensing the need for more LIGHT. It's not only the darkest time of the year, but the world feels unusually heavy and dark to me. So I'm dreaming of candle holders: some simple, some fanciful, some complex... all intended to hold and beam LIGHT.

I hope that you'll mark your calendars and come visit the studio December 7th or 8th. My visiting artists are bringing exquisite, handmade pottery and both animal and human-figurative sculptures to sell.

In closing, I want to update you on the great success of the Empty Bowl Fundraising Dinner last week. We made 120 bowls and sold out the event. People came the night-of, w/out tickets and added their support by buying a paper bowl of soup. We raised about $4,000 for the Open Door Food Pantry at the Frenchtown United Methodist Church. The night was filled with a pure kind of generosity and love from everyone there. It's hard to overstate how wonderful it felt to be part of all that!

Some student-supporters, each of whom made and/or decorated bowls
